This enables us to play a key role in shaping the region\u2019s energy future and supporting the Nordic countries in achieving their shared vision of becoming the most sustainable and integrated region in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-container-content-0733e5d0\"><br>The national political systems and the intergovernmental Nordic framework are essential arenas for us. Formal cooperation on joint research funding began in 1985. Since then, we have supported collaborative projects and knowledge development within several energy areas, including energy security, renewable energy, and energy market integration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-container-content-0733e5d0\">In 1999, we were established as an institution under the Nordic Council of Ministers to further strengthen intergovernmental cooperation on energy policy, complementing our existing tasks.&nbsp;Today, we also play roles within the European Union\u2019s Clean Energy Transition Partnerships and for the Nordic Council of Ministers for the Environment and Climate.
